Band name: Atra Hora

Lost in the depths is Atra Hora’s debut album, released on the vocalist’s own label. It’s centered mostly on a style I’m very unfamiliar, not to mention uncomfortable, with; melodic metal. Thankfully this isn’t that type of wailing gothic crap, or power metal for that matter, that’s not what I mean by melodic. While labeled as black/death metal I can easily say this is far from what I’d expect, and it carries attributes from Sweden’s early-mid 90ies scene. I guess Dark Tranquility might’ve stood for some inspiration, possibly even Unanimated and Dissection for some parts. I also keep

If this EP is intended as a promotion for both Atra Hora and its home label Darknagar Records, I sure wonder what audience the band and the label are pitching the recording at. The band's own original songs, put upfront, are barely decent melodic blackened death metal efforts but the series of covers and remakes is surely ill-advised. If the guys didn't have enough of their own new material to bulk up the album, surely the three songs alone could have constituted the EP or a single? If the musicians believed that recording two covers and two remixes of older songs of theirs, was necessary to
